The Dynamic Duo in Volpone :: Volpone

The Dynamic Duo in Volpone     While Mosca and Volpone, the dynamic pair in this play, share numerous similitudes, they are as yet extraordinary enough to praise one another. On one hand, the two characters are similar in that they share a normal desire for double dealing, making their living by deceiving others. They take take pleasure in conjuring up and performing elaborate plans so as to trick individuals. This turns into a game for both of them, which the two of them appreciate playing massively. Maybe the normal love of this game is what weaves Volpone's heart so firmly to Mosca's. Then again, Mosca is by all accounts somewhat more keen and wittier than Volpone. Where Volpone will in general be somewhat dull or moderate, Mosca compensates for his need by being keen for him. For instance, in act 3.4, Volpone bubbles in dissatisfaction since he can't effectively convince or stunt Lady Would-be into leaving his quality. He endeavors to make her leave a few times, yet is insufficient. At last, at the stature of his despair, Mosca strolls in, and with one breath, concocts a splendid lie that sends Lady Would-be running out the entryway. This unfailing capacity of Mosca's to imagine plans while under tension is what makes him so helpful to Volpone and keeps the couple together. Mosca's snappy thinking praises Volpone's moderate mind. Another trademark that Mosca has in plenitude that Volpone doesn't really have is the capacity to compliment. All through the play, Mosca shows a sharp capacity to play off of others' pride by swelling their inner selves so they will be overwhelmed by their own vanity. At that point, when the other individual has his eyes exclusively on himself, he is defenseless against succumb to any plan of Mosca's.
